RAO University (Roshan Afghanistan Online University) was founded in response to one of the most pressing educational crises of the 21st century — the systematic exclusion of Afghan women and girls from formal education under the current ruling regime in Afghanistan. As the first fully online higher education institution in the country, RAO University emerged as a volunteer-driven, humanitarian initiative designed to restore access to education for women whose academic aspirations had been unjustly interrupted.
