On Thursday, May 29, 2025 (corresponding to 8 Jawza 1404 in the Afghan calendar), the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Roshan Afghanistan University held an academic webinar titled “The Fourth Wave of Feminism: From Protest to Global Awareness.”

The event was attended by the university’s Chancellor, Mr. Atiqullah Sultani (Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science), Ms. Bahara Ataei (Deputy Dean), Mr. Qais Joya (Head of the Department of International Relations), and a group of students. The session opened with welcoming remarks from the Dean of the faculty.

The main presentation was delivered by Asif Faghiri, a member of the university’s academic staff. Taking a historical and analytical approach, he explored the four major waves of feminist movements—from the struggle for women’s suffrage in the first wave to the emergence of digital resistance and global storytelling in the fourth. He highlighted the significance of social media in amplifying marginalized voices and emphasized the fourth wave’s focus on gender justice, body politics, and narrative activism.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Qais Joyan provided a general summary of the session and expressed appreciation for the participation of students and faculty.

🔸 This webinar was part of the university’s broader commitment to promoting academic dialogue and raising awareness on critical social and cultural issues.
